Tucker Carr and the band GMO have rerecorded and released their song “Flood Waters Rising 2017 Edition”. The song is available for free download for any organization doing nonprofit fund raising for the victims of the recent hurricanes, Harvey and Irma as well as PSA’s. It can be downloaded below or by clicking here for fundraising purposes. Also, it has been made available for 99 cents per download at the CDBaby Store at CDBaby.com/CD/GMO2. CDBaby includes MP3, MP3-320, and FLAC files with purchase. All proceeds will go to hurricane relief. If you need a higher quality version of the recording, just let us know.

The song was written by Tucker Carr in 2006 following his visit to New Orleans and witnessing the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The song was inspired by a story Tucker heard from a man in which he and his family were stuck on a roof in a raging torrent for days and how this man’s wife looked at him and finally said “I can’t hold on any longer …please take care of the kids.” Then she was swept away by the flood waters. The story was so riveting and heartbreaking that Tucker wrote the words to the song that night.

Coincidentally the band was rerecording this song for their new album release when all the sudden the news of Hurricane Harvey and Irma were coming. So naturally the band all agreed the best way they could help people is to donate their song and proceeds to the victims of these hurricane ravaged areas. Please join the band GMO and their efforts to assist these people in need.

Flood waters rising took my baby away
All I recall is the last thing she’d say
You take the kids now it’s my time to go
Where I’ll end only Heaven will know
I cried a tear for that love of mine
At that time I knew a part of me was dying
Flood waters rising now it’s time to move
I can’t forget that day and the love I’d lose

Chorus
Whoa whoa I’ve got nowhere to call my home
Whoa whoa flood waters rising…rising and rising
Whoa whoa I am just looking for something that’s dry
Whoa whoa flood waters rising

God I’m so thirsty water surrounding me
Angel of mercy won’t you shine on me
Sun is setting on this town of mine
Bus is leaving one last look behind
Wound up in Texas so far from my home
Last goodbye baby now we are gonna be alone

Chorus
Whoa whoa I’ve got nowhere to call my home
Whoa whoa flood waters rising…rising and rising
Whoa whoa I am just looking for something that’s dry
Whoa whoa flood waters rising

Sat on my rooftop late last night
Dreamed I saw my last light
Storm clouds gathered over me
Flood waters wont you let me be

Chorus
Whoa whoa I’ve got nowhere to call my home
Whoa whoa flood waters rising…rising and rising
Whoa whoa I am just looking for something that’s dry
Whoa whoa flood waters rising
